Dr. Katherine at the MAPS Conference - March 2025
The Medical Academy of Pediatric & Special Needs (MAPS) is a group of professionals who offer comprehensive education to medical professionals for the care of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders and related chronic complex conditions. Basically, this is a pediatric functional medicine conference which focuses on root causes and natural solutions to chronic problems, which is applicable to the general pediatrician and family medicine doc, as well as dedicated functional medicine practices. I learned SO MUCH last week! These conferences provide an opportunity to meet and network with doctors and other health professionals in this small but growing sector of health care.
Here's a link to my video summary of my big takeaways:
Here are 5 takeaways from the spring conference:
Biochemistry of neuroinflammation – how do we get to the root causes and develop solutions
Connection between infectious disease, neuroinflammation, violence, and global instability
CDC normalizing dumbing down and developmental delay of children
So much to learn about PANS/PANDAS which is more and more common
Plasmalogens – essential for cell membrane and cell function
